Canada is the first major industrialized country to legalize cannabis for recreational use, and cannabis will become legal in smaller quantities in Canada in about 2-3 months from the age of 18.
Perhaps Germany will then look to Canada to weigh the pros and cons of legalisation In any case, Canada can probably continue to import medical cannabis into Germany.
In the meantime, the Federal Government had confirmed that it did not expect Canadian deliveries of medical cannabis to Germany to fail because the current legal framework for cultivation and import for medical purposes is to continue to apply.
This is good news for Canadian medical cannabis producers who want to import into Germany because rumours in recent weeks said that importing cannabis should no longer be possible because Canada also wants to legalize cannabis for recreational une in the second half of 2018 and should therefore violate the 1961 Convention on Narcotic drugs.
This should also have been the reason why no medical cannabis could be imported from Uruguay to Germany, because also in Uruguay a legalization for the leisure use took place.
It is good that the disputes have now been settled.
